Southbroom Streets last Saturday after the storm

Pro Shop and Club House storm damage-  now all being steadily repaired
Over the last week, we have had crazy weather, especially with a hectic storm, driving rain and really serious winds last Saturday afternoon!
The winds gusted up to 120km an hour putting a quick end to the comp -other than the first 2 early starting 4 balls. The saddest damage was the total loss of the wonderful Umdoni tree on the corner of the dogleg on Hole 16. It was such a feature of the hole and will be sorely missed. Having said that, there are some very happy golfers who kept getting caught by this tree. (Every shot in golf makes someone happy!)   Other than that, there was no  real damage to the course but the whole village looked a mess with branches and big trees down all over the place. The clearing up operation has been in full force and all is almost back to normal again.  For Tree Cutting etc, call Michael Street on 082 322 2222 & for maintenance call Russell Mackenzie on 084 652 7830.

Clearing up operations!
Fortunately, only minor damage to the Club house with some of the patio sun sails taking strain, and the Pro Shop roof. Many Thanks to the Committee and to Russell MacKenzie, Nic and their teams for quicly repairing and replacing the  missing Pro Shop roof tiles, the electrics and the interior ceiling portion that blew in with such a big bang.

Our Sunday morning run went ahead in the softly falling rain, the runners ran around all the fallen branches and debri from the wind. Nevertheless fun was had by all. Many runners / walkers came in happily clutching shirts full of golf balls collected from underneath all the palm trees!

Thanks to our great members & staff who helped run the event – Don Osbourn with his ever efficient timekeeping, Nic van Deventer was serving drinks on the beach section, Cleve Walker lead the way with his dogs, Julie Walker helped with registration, then ran & John Fox was directing traffic. All good fun and enjoyed by the entrants. Well done to Ute Poser on her great run in the unusual conditions. The next one will probably be in the early holiday season – before the season rush starts. We will keep you posted!

Dawne Murray is celebrating her 70th milestone birthday this week and we wish her all the best for her sensational 70’s.
Happy Birthday Dawne. Have a fabulous week of celebrations with friends & family

The Bag Room has been getting a little overcrowded of late, and there a couple of bags and carts that have been identified as belonging to previous members. We will try contact them, but there are also many duplicate items all belonging to the same person/s. Please could you help Robert identify your property and if you could remove your duplicates (if they not being used) or please feel free to donate them to less fortunate golfers. Then things will be far more manageable for the regular golfers using the bag room facility.  (The excess unidentified  bags carts etc are being safely stored downstairs until claimed/ sorted)

Do you have an unwanted TV?
The previously donated TV in the Caddy room has died – if anyone has an old one they are not using – or you would like to sponsor one- it would be  really greatly appreciated.  It would be reallygreat to have one in both the Staff quarters and the Caddy waiting room.

The Caddy Club champs are next month on Monday 30th October. Its always a hotly contested day and the guys really enjoy playing competitively. Regular Playing Caddies make for better Caddies!    Sponsorships always welcome!

Trail Fee Stickers The new 2017/2018 black cart trail fee stickers are available for purchase in the club office. Please collect yours from Sarah/ Adri – Annual trail fee payable of R880.

Howard Kelly and the Croc Farm are all a buzz this week end with art, wine, food and music.
